The Sector Seven Alternate Reality Game is a viral marketing campaign for the first live action movie. The game's story began in February 2007 and concluded on July 6 with a farewell message sent to user's cell-phones by the campaign protagonist.
The campaign was based on the premise that the entire Transformers brand, from 1984 to the upcoming movie, was actually an elaborate cover-up designed to conceal the real presence of alien machines on the planet Earth. Players used passwords concealed in the promotional material for the upcoming movie by a rogue agent to access a 'secure online client' and read e-mails and explore files belonging to various agents in the organization.
The campaign sprawled to include the 'secure client', cell phones, several social networking sites, as well as live events and a touring troupe of actors.

Revenge of the Fallen[]
The viral marketing campaign was re-established for the sequel in the form of two websites that continue to depict "real" events consisting of leaks of alien contacts. The film Revenge of the Fallen could be easily seen as further misinformation designed to discredit the work of Robo-Warrior at GiantEffingRobots.com and Leo Spitz and his staff from The Real Effing Deal.
The websites officially tied into the Sector Seven continuity when Agent X contacted Leo Spitz with information gathered from Sector Seven.[1]
